From Suites to Stairways: Why I’m Here

My journey with addiction didn’t just start yesterday—it began when I was 15, and it didn’t let go until October 2, 2021. I have lived on both sides of the glass. I’ve lived in comped casino suites with free buffets and endless slot play, and I’ve slept in freezing Atlantic City stairways when that same habit took my ID, my money, and my pride.

I lost family along the way, and for a long time, I forgot what it felt like to be a person worth loving. But today, I’m building this from the driver’s seat of my truck for my daughter, Skye. She is my world, and she’s the reason I’m standing here today. I’m building ‘The Recover Steps’ because I know the feeling of pushing everyone away when you need them most. If I can help just one person find their way back to the light, then I’m helping myself stay there, too.

I know what it’s like to feel like you’ve reached the end of the road. Have you ever felt like you had to lose everything before you could finally start finding yourself again? Drop a comment below—I’m reading every single one.
